UNTIL CHRIST BE FORMED IN YOU

“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you” (Galatians 4:19)

When is Christ formed in a person? What does it mean for Christ to be formed in someone? What spiritual process is involved in this mystical phenomenon? First of all, this statement from Apostle Paul reveals that Christ,the Anointed One is not immediately formed in people; it is a process that manifests with time. In the above context, Paul expresses the fact that Christ would be formed in the Christians in Galatia after he must have travailed in birth for them. We travail in birth through heartfelt prayer and intercession.
Intercession, petition and supplication can be likened to travailing in birth. When we strive, struggle or agonize in prayer for ourselves or in the behalf of others, we’re literally going through labour and childbirth pains. God wants to bring many good things to birth in His people, but He requires dedicated individuals who will side with Him in faith and prayer to achieve God’s plan. Literally speaking, travailing takes place in someone who is already heavily pregnant and is ready to bring a new life to birth. If you have nothing in you to bring to birth, you have no business travailing in birth! When God incubates something in you, He also empowers you to bring it to birth.

Christ Formed in Mary
“And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35)
Mary received the power to give birth to Christ the Saviour. Christ was formed in her womb, she travailed in birth and the Child was born in due time. This is an exclusive and unique supernatural experience that is yet applicable to us unto whom the end of the world has come.
“But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law” (Galatians 4:4)
There is an appointed time for you to bring God’s purpose in you to birth. Wait for it.
Christ Must Be Formed in You Too!
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith…” (Ephesians 3:17)
Christ is the Ultimate and Height of God’s plan and purpose for mankind. When Christ is formed in you, you are a true success. We cannot fully manifest the divine nature and character of Jesus until Christ is formed in us. The formation of Christ in us should be our lifelong desire ─becoming like Him. Christ did not come into the world so that we’d be having a good time at Christmas. He actually came to give us life eternal.

Your Inheritance
Don’t trade away your inheritance in the Lord. Don’t settle for anything less than Christ died for. You are a carrier and bringer-forth of God’s glory and purpose in your generation. However, travailing isn’t an easy task; it entails a lot of forbearance or endurance. But this is your awesome privilege, use it well. Shalom.
